Swimming Goggles for Kids and Adults: Arena, TYR, Speedo

Kids' goggles by age

Many kids' goggles carry an age range from the maker, and it is the quickest way to narrow the choice. Intex made the Play Goggles for ages 3 to 8, and the Free Style Sport Goggles for children from 8. Speedo made the Biofuse 2.0 Junior for ages 6 to 14, with a push-button strap that adjusts quickly. The Speedo Spot goggles for infants also use a push-button adjustment. At the top of the range, Bestway made the Lightning Pro for swimmers aged 14 and up. More kit for young swimmers is in kids' swimming.

Training goggles or racing goggles

For lap swimming, comfort over a long session matters most. Speedo says the Hydropulse suits all-round swimmers, with super-soft seals and a double silicone strap. The Futura Classic is a soft-frame goggle built for regular sessions.

For racing, pick a low-profile goggle. TYR calls the Socket Rockets 2.0 one of the most elite racing goggles, with a classic Swedish-style design that cuts drag. Arena's Tracks, Python and Cobra Edge Swipe racing goggles are World Aquatics (FINA) approved. See the Arena range in Arena goggles.

Mirrored lenses, and anti-fog you can renew

Arena says the reflective coating on the Tracks Mirror protects your eyes from glare outdoors or in well-lit pools. One Speedo Futura Classic comes with smoked lenses for more contrast.

Arena says all its goggles are treated for anti-fog. The usual advice is to rinse goggles and not to wipe the inside of the lens. Arena's Swipe goggles work the other way: Arena says their anti-fog lasts ten times longer and comes back when you gently swipe the inner lenses with your fingertip.

If you swim laps a few times a week, start with a soft-seal pair like the Speedo Hydropulse. For a child, pick by the age printed on the goggles.

What are the best swim goggles for beginners?

For adults starting lap swimming, adidas made the Ripstream Starter for people adding laps to a fitness routine. Its moulded silicone frame with deep gaskets adapts to your face for long pool sessions. For young swimmers, Speedo calls the Futura Classic Junior the perfect entry-level goggle, with a soft frame, anti-fog lenses and an easy-adjust strap.

Do you have swimming glasses for people who wear glasses?

Yes. Speedo made the Mariner Supreme Optical goggles for swimmers who need corrective lenses. They have adjustable diopter lenses for clear vision underwater. For a closer fit on any face, the Arena Tracks come with four interchangeable nose bridges, so you can match different face and nose shapes. Wear them with a cap from swimming caps.

Do you have fun goggles for kids?

Yes. TYR's Swimple Tie Dye goggles come in many bright colours with soft, hypoallergenic silicone seals. Arena's Spider Jr goggles use a single strap with a back clip, so they are quick to adjust at the pool.
