Slides, flip flops or clogs: which slippers for men suit your day?

Most slippers for men on this page are slides. Flip flops, clogs and sandals make up the rest.

• Slides: one strap across the foot and an open heel, easy to kick on and off. The adidas Adilette family is the biggest group here.
• Flip flops: a strap that sits between the toes, such as the Rider Street City Thong, the Billabong All Day and the Quiksilver Molokai.
• Clogs: a closed toe. The adidas Adilette Clog 2.0 has a heel strap that can be removed, and Birkenstock lists its Boston clog here too.
• Sandals: adjustable straps, like the hook-and-loop straps on the adidas Terrex Hydroterra water sandal.

Which slides work for the pool and the shower?

adidas makes the Adilette Shower for the pool deck, the shower and the couch. The Adilette Aqua has a one-piece moulded EVA upper that dries quickly, and adidas calls it a post-swim essential. The Birkenstock Arizona EVA is waterproof, washable and ultra lightweight. The CUBS Air Walk Slide is made of soft rubber with a waterproof construction.

Which slides are made for after training, and which for all day?

Not every slide is built for a full day. adidas says the Adissage, with its nubby massage footbed, is designed for after a workout and not for all-day comfort. For longer wear, the Adilette Comfort 2.0 has a Cloudfoam footbed and a padded strap, and the Nike Victori One pairs soft foam with a wider strap. The Birkenstock Arizona sits on a contoured cork-latex footbed and closes with two adjustable straps.

If you want one pair for the pool and the house, start with the Adilette Aqua. See every adidas Adilette, the full Birkenstock range, or more sandals and clogs.
