Which indoor shoe for which sport?

These are kids' indoor court shoes from adidas, Nike and ASICS, 16 pairs in all. Each model is built around a different kind of game.

• Volleyball and handball: the adidas Ligra 8 has a breathable mesh upper with synthetic overlays, a supportive midsole and a rubber outsole for quick cuts and sudden stops. The adidas Court Stabil is a juniors' handball shoe with an EVA midsole and a light build.
• Many sports and PE lessons: the Nike Omni Multi-Court is made for any indoor court, from volleyball and basketball to tennis and handball.
• Fast court games: the adidas Speedcourt pairs a grippy rubber outsole with a breathable upper.
• Light and flexible: the ASICS Upcourt 6 GS uses broad mesh panels for a softer, more adaptable fit.

Little kids or older kids: finding the size

Sizes run from 28 to 40 across the 16 pairs. The Nike Omni Multi-Court for little kids runs from size 28 to 35, and one adidas Speedcourt pair starts at 28 and goes up to 37 1/3. The Ligra 8, Court Stabil and the other Speedcourt pairs run from 33 to 38 2/3. The ASICS Upcourt 6 GS goes from 35 1/2 to 39 1/2.

What the sole does on a court

Grip comes from the rubber outsole. Nike lists the Omni's rubber sole as non-marking, and both versions have cut-outs in the sole that make it lighter. On the Ligra 8, the outsole is there for grip on quick changes of direction.

If your child plays several indoor sports at school, start with the Nike Omni Multi-Court. For a volleyball or handball team, pick the adidas Ligra 8. See more indoor shoes, the handball range and all kids' footwear.
