Treadmill, bike, elliptical or rower: which machine fits your training?

This page holds cardio machines for the home, from Entercise, NordicTrack, ProForm and Body Sculpture. Treadmills are the biggest group.

• Treadmill: for walking, jogging and running indoors. See the motor guide below.
• Exercise bike: the Entercise B51 has a 6 kg flywheel and the R30 a 9 kg flywheel, both with a belt drive. The Entercise R11-V1 is a recumbent bike with a touch screen.
• Elliptical: the Entercise Elliptical E30 has an adjustable Ergo Path stride. The NordicTrack AirGlide 16 has a tilting 16 inch HD touchscreen.
• Rowing machine: Body Sculpture describes its Digital Rowing Machine as a full-body workout for the legs, core, back and arms. NordicTrack has the RW300 and the RW900.

How do the treadmill motors and inclines compare?

Motor power is the first number to check. The Entercise Smart Rabbit has a 1.5 HP DC motor and is described for walking and light jogging. The Entercise MAGNUM has a 3.0 HP DC motor, and the APEX a 3.5 HP DC motor with a 15.6 inch Android display. The NordicTrack T Series 7 lists a 2.6 CHP motor, speeds from 1 to 16 km/h and a 0 to 10% incline. The NordicTrack Commercial 2450 has a 4.25 CHP motor, and the X24 Treadmill reaches a 40% incline.

Is there smaller gear for home workouts?

Yes. The Body Sculpture Aerobic Stepper adjusts to 10 cm or 15 cm. The Entercise adjustable dumbbell goes from 5 kg to 25 kg and replaces five traditional dumbbells.

If you want a treadmill for walking and light jogging at home, start with the Entercise Smart Rabbit. Compare the two main brands on the Entercise and NordicTrack pages, or add weights and fitness accessories.
