How do you want your shin guards to stay in place?

Most shin guards here have a hard shield with a soft backing. What changes is how it stays on your leg, and that decides how it feels after an hour of play.

• Compression sleeve: the adidas Tiro League and Tiro Competition shin guards drop into a compression sleeve for a fit that stays in place.
• Slip-in: the adidas Messi Club shin guards are low-profile shields you slip into your football socks.
• Strap: the Puma King Strap shin guards close with an adjustable strap for a snug fit.
• Hard shell and foam: the Nike Charge and Mercurial Hardshell guards pair a hard shell with a foam back.

If your slip-in guards move during a match, the Nike Guard Stay 2 sleeve is designed to help keep a shin guard in place. Sizes run from XS to XL depending on the model. For more pairs, see all shin guards.

Goalkeeper gloves: grip and fit

A keeper glove is judged by its palm and its wrist. The adidas Predator Match gloves use Soft Grip Pro latex on the palm with a half-wrap wrist strap. The Puma Attacanto Play RC has a latex palm and a padded backhand. For young keepers, the adidas Predator Match Fingersave Kids adds finger protection, and the Nike Match Jr. has foam-padded palms. Kids' gloves come in sizes 4 to 7.

Bags, nets and match-day extras

Shoe bags from adidas and Nike keep your boots apart from the rest of your kit, and the adidas Tiro League Ball Net carries several balls for a team session. The page also has adidas Tiro Captain's armbands, the Erbacher Skill Step 4 m agility ladder and adidas football socks.

If you are building a kit from scratch, start with shin guards that match your socks and a shoe bag, then add gloves if you play in goal. Find boots and balls in all football.
