Which TYR goggles suit the way you swim?

The TYR goggles here split into racing and training styles. The easiest way to tell them apart is the gasket, the soft seal that sits around each eye.

• Socket Rockets 2.0: a Swedish-style, low profile racing goggle with thermoplastic rubber (TPR) gaskets for a close-to-the-face feel and an adjustable nose bridge. It also comes with mirrored lenses.
• Vecta Racing Mirrored: a sculpted low profile racing frame made for competitive swimmers, with mirrored lenses.
• Vesi: a low profile unibody training goggle with DURAFIT silicone gaskets and speed adjust straps that make it quick to put on and take off.
• Team Sprint and Racetech: wide-angle lenses with an anti-fog coating for training and recreational swimming. Team Sprint has soft foam gaskets, while Racetech has rubber gaskets and easy-adjust side clips.

Clear or mirrored? TYR's listings say mirrored lenses cut glare and brightness, which is why the Vesi Mirrored is described as ideal for outdoor swimming.

Goggles for young swimmers

Two kids' lines sit in this range. The Aqua Blaze is listed for ages 3 to 10, with PVC gaskets and a thick head strap with grips. The Swimple has soft silicone gaskets, a small unibody frame for different face shapes and a release button that makes the strap quick to adjust.

Silicone, latex or a long hair cap?

The TYR Wrinkle-Free Silicone Swim Cap is 100% silicone and is made for adults and children. The latex caps have a ribbed edge: the adult latex cap is listed for ages 16 and up and the youth latex cap for ages 10 and up. If you have long hair, the Long Hair silicone cap has an enlarged, asymmetrical shape so your hair fits inside.

If you swim laps a few times a week, start with the Vesi and a silicone cap. Add Socket Rockets 2.0 when you begin to race. You can compare more swimming goggles and swim caps, or see all swimming gear.
