What sizes are these basketball shoes?

Every pair on this page is a youth basketball shoe from Nike, adidas, Under Armour or Jordan, listed for older kids and grade school players. The listed sizes run from 35 1/2 to 40. So check the size chart against your foot length before you pick a pair, whether you are buying for a girl or for yourself.

Strap or laces: which closure suits the player?

This is the first choice to make. Two Nike shoes add a strap for a quick fit:

• Nike Team Hustle D 11: elastic laces, a wide opening and a big hook-and-loop strap. A rubber grip on the heel helps you kick the shoe off.
• Nike Team Hustle D 12: classic laces with a hook-and-loop strap, and pull tabs on the tongue and heel.

The other listings do not mention a strap. The listings for the Under Armour UA Jet and UA Lockdown 7, the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Low and the Nike Giannis Immortality 4 name a lace closure.

Indoor court or outdoor court?

Look at where the listing says the shoe works. The Jordan Luka 77 is built for rugged outdoor courts: concrete, asphalt and playgrounds, with a high-abrasion mesh upper. The Team Hustle D 12 has a full-length rubber outsole for outdoor courts and playgrounds. The Giannis Immortality 4 gives grip on hardwood and control outdoors. The UA Lockdown 7 has a herringbone traction pattern for grip on the court.

For a younger player who wants an easy fit, start with the Nike Team Hustle D 11. Its elastic laces and strap make it quick to put on and take off. For more pairs, see basketball shoes, kids basketball shoes and girls footwear.
