Which adidas glove for which training

The adidas combat range here covers gloves, guards, pads and wraps. Start with the glove, because each one is built for a different kind of session.

• Hybrid-100 boxing gloves: PU leather, a wide Velcro strap for wrist support, and made for bag work, mitt training, fitness classes and light sparring. Sizes 6 to 14 oz.
• Hybrid-50 boxing gloves: PU leather with inner lining and a wide Velcro closure, for fitness classes, kickboxing and boxing. Sizes 6 to 14 oz.
• Speed 50 boxing gloves: pre-molded PU gloves with an elasticated strap, from 4 oz up to 14 oz.
• MMA Speed Fight Gloves: MMA gloves in PU leather with EVA foam knuckle padding and Climacool, sized S to XL rather than by ounce.

Guards for sparring and kicks

For kicking drills, the Super Pro Shin-N-Ship guard has FLX 3.0 PU leather, a gel insert on the front and a foot section, with twin hook and loop straps, in sizes XS to XL. The Shin and Instep Guard is a 100% woven polyester guard with padding and foot protection, in blue or red.

Above the waist there is a head guard with chin, ear and cheek cover in nubuck PU, sizes S to XL, and a reversible chest guard in blue and red. Elbow guards and elastic ankle socks are also in the range.

Pads and wraps

Coaches holding kicks will want the Econo Thai Coaching Pad, a PU3G synthetic leather pad of 21 x 10 x 42 cm for kick, knee and elbow work. Under any glove, the Boxing Crepe Bandage hand wraps come in 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 metre lengths with a thumb loop, and they are washable.

If you are starting boxing, begin with Hybrid-100 gloves and a pair of hand wraps, then add shin guards when you start kicking. For kickboxing classes, the Hybrid-50 listing names kickboxing. See all boxing accessories, martial arts guards and the full martial arts range.
