Air Jordan 1 Low or Mid: which cut should you pick?

Air Jordan is the Nike brand that carries Michael Jordan's name. The Air Jordan 1 leads this page, and the first choice is the cut. The Low sits below the ankle. The older kids' Low has a real and synthetic leather upper, a Nike Air unit in the heel and a rubber outsole. The Mid rises higher and adds a padded ankle collar. Pick the Low for an easy everyday shoe. Pick the Mid if you want more cover around the ankle.

What do SE, Zoom CMFT 2 and FlyEase mean on an Air Jordan 1?

The words after the name tell you what changed.

• SE: a tag in the model name. The older kids' Low SE and Mid SE are made with suede and canvas.
• Zoom CMFT 2: the women's Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 pairs soft suede with Jordan Brand's Formula 23 foam.
• FlyEase: an entry system that gets the foot in quickly and easily, on the older kids' Air Jordan 1 Low FlyEase.
• Legacy 312: not an Air Jordan 1. The Legacy 312 Low takes elements from the AJ1, the AJ3 and the Nike Air Alpha Force, with a midfoot strap and elephant print.

Which Air Jordans here are made for the basketball court?

The store lists the Air Jordan 1 and the Legacy 312 as lifestyle shoes, so treat them as everyday sneakers. The basketball models are different. The men's Air Jordan XXXVIII Low has a stabilising X-Plate and a full-length Zoom Strobel unit. The men's Jumpman Two Trey has a padded collar and a full-length rubber outsole with herringbone tread, for on-court and off-court wear.

If this is your first pair, start with an Air Jordan 1 Low in a colour you will wear often. See the wider Jordan shoes range, or go straight to basketball shoes if you want a pair to play in.
