What do Puma's foam names mean?

Puma gives each cushioning its own name. Here is what each one is, as Puma's listings describe it:

• SOFTFOAM+: the comfort sockliner in many Puma lifestyle sneakers, such as the Court Classic Street. On the Zora, Puma calls it the famous SOFTFOAM+ insole for maximum cushion.
• SOFTRIDE: the cushioning in the Softride shoes, such as the Softride Symmetry Fuzion, which pairs it with FUZIONFIT targeted support.
• PROFOAM: responsive cushioning in running and training shoes, such as the PWR Hybrid TR and the Skyrocket Lite Alt.
• NITROFOAM: the foam in the Nitro running shoes. The Voyage Nitro 3 has a full NITROFOAM midsole for a lighter, more responsive ride.

Which Puma shoe for what you do?

Most pairs on this page are lifestyle sneakers, and the rest are built for one sport. For running, look at the Skyrocket Lite, Electrify Nitro and Pulse Pro running shoes (Pulse Pro is made for road runners), or the Voyage Nitro 3 for trail. For the gym, the PWR Hybrid TR has PUMAGRIP for multi-surface traction and a TPU heel clip for stability. Football players have the Ultra 5 Play and Future 7 Play boots, and basketball players the Dagger, which Puma built for outdoor courts.

Motorsport and classic Puma sneakers

Some lifestyle pairs come from Puma's racing collaborations: BMW M Motorsport shoes such as the RS-X and the Inverse, and Scuderia Ferrari shoes such as the Drift Cat 11 in Ferrari colours. Others are Puma classics. The Palermo comes straight from the archives, and the Suede XL and RS-X are here in several versions.

If you want one pair for every day, start with a SOFTFOAM+ lifestyle sneaker such as the Suede XL. For more, see Puma men, Puma women and Puma running.
